NAUTILUS HEARING SERVICES
HEARING AID CHECK-UP
Approximate Appointment Time: 15 Minutes
A hearing aid check-up includes a deep cleaning and ensures that the hearing aid is functioning appropriately.
During this time, microphone covers, domes and wax filters are changed. wipes it down and cleans inside the hearing aid. Followed by a sound quality check. This is a check done to make sure the hearing aids speakers are in proper working condition.
HEARING EVALUATIONS AND CONSULTATION
Approximate Appointment Time: 45-60 minutes
Nautilus Hearing provides 2 different hearing evaluations:
A hearing screening is a baseline screening to establish a general idea of the hearing status.
A diagnostic hearing evaluation is a 3 part hearing test that determines the type and degree of hearing loss.
HEARING AID FOLLOW-UPS
Approximate Appointment Time: 45 Minutes
Hearing Aid Follow Up appointments are standard and necessary to ensure the hearing devices are functioning and fitting properly.
These appointments are also used to make any adjustments and allows more time to review use of the devices and accessories.
REAL EAR MEASUREMENTS (REM)
This procedure is typically done during hearing aid fitting and adjustment appointments.
By placing a microphone probe in your ear, REM allows your audiologist to measure how your ear affects the volume and pitch of the hearing aid.
Using REM along with your hearing test allows the audiologist to program the hearing aid so that it is appropriately suited for the size and shape of your ear as well as your specific hearing loss.
COCHLEAR IMPLANT CANDIDACY EVALUATION
Approximate Appointment Time: 90-120 minutes
A Cochlear Implant Candidacy Evaluation is an in depth evaluation of a patients word understanding abilities. This evaluation is necessary to determine if a patient is eligible to move forward in the cochlear implant process.
COCHLEAR IMPLANT ACTIVATION AND PROGRAMMING (MAP)
Approximate Appointment Time: 90-120 Minutes
Cochlear implant activation appointments are scheduled 4 weeks post surgery.
This appointment is to activate the processor, establish his/her levels by conducting a MAP and reviews the cochlear implant components and accessories.
Follow up MAPs are scheduled 1-2 weeks, 1 month, 3 months, 6 months and 1 year from the patient's activation date.
CUSTOM HEARING PROTECTION AND IN-EAR MONITORS
Approximate Appointment Time: 15-30 minutes
An impression of the ear is made and the patient can order hearing protection through Nautilus Hearing or through third party companies using the Nautilus impression.
